Leonard "Alvin" Jones, age 56, of Girdler departed this life on Saturday December 20, 2014 at his home. He was born on November 27, 1958 in Barbourville to Clifford Jones, who preceded him in death and Floretta Jones Gregory. He attended the Locust Grove Baptist Church and was a self-employed transmission repairman.
He is survived by his loving mother, Floretta Jones Gregory, of Barbourville; his daughter, Kendra Jones (Anthony Penn) of Barbourville; his sister, Terrie Miller Larson (Craig) of Jasper Georgia; his nephew, David W. Miller (Becky) of Barbourville; great nephews, David E. Miller and Rex Miller, both of Barbourville; Two grandchildren, Harley and Mark Penn. He also leaves behind a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Leonard "Alvin" Jones will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. David Barnard officiating. Burial will follow in the Hacker Cemetery at Girdler with Mike Edwards, Frank Robinson Jr., Craig Larson, David E. Miller, Rex H. Miller and Anthony Lynch serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the University of Kentucky Medical Center ICU, the Knox County Hospital, Hospice of the Bluegrass, Dr. James West, Dr. Raju Vora and The Wingman Motorcycle Club.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Monday, December 22, 2014 after 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday until the funeral hour at 11:00 A.M.
