Kayla Shanae Mills, age 21, of Flat Lick Kentucky passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 in the University of Louisville Hospital. She was born on September 27, 1991 in Knox Co., KY. the daughter of Roger Mills and Donna Bingham Mills. Kayla was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Roger Mills, and her maternal grandparents Don and Sylvia Bingham. Kayla was a member of the Dewitt Baptist Church and was currently attending Riverside Baptist Church.
Kayla is survived by her father Roger Mills and his wife Hope of Gray, and her mother Donna Mills and her fiance' Scot of Flat Lick, her grandfather, Oliver Smith of Flat Lick, her paternal grandmother Linda Mills of Gray, two siblings Peyton Mills and Summer Mills both of Gray, three step siblings, Courtney Hoskins, Kylie Lovin and Brandon Osborne. Kayla is also survived by the following aunts and uncles Shawn Gray, Gary Cooper, Heather Gray, and Donna Cooper all of Scalf, Shirley Martin, Harold Smith, Loudina Mills, Pearl Gambrel, Finley Smith, WayneSmith, Geraldine Mills, Stella Smith, Karen Williamson, and Viola Smith. Kayla also leaves behind the following cousins, Justin and Austin Cooper, Shane Gray, aunts & uncles, Lovella and Nelson Messer, Linville and Nina Broughton, Stevie and Doris Broughton, Perry Broughton, Darris and Stephanie Broughton and Purity Mae and Patrick Lewis. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Kayla Mills will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday January 12th at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at Bailey Switch with Rev. Vernon Morris, Rev. David Daniels, Rev. Mike Griffiths, Rev. Jim Bargo, and Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
The family of Kayla Mills will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
