Mr. Joseph Lee Kirkpatrick, age 85, of Heidrick, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in the Knox County Hospital. He was the husband of Lulu (Fink) Kirkpatrick, and the son of the late George and Alice Brady Laird Kirkpatrick, born to them on July 19, 1927, in Hartford, Illinois. He was a member of the Christian Life Fellowship Church, where he played the guitar. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the VFW, the American Legion Post 69 of Barbourville, the Handyman Club, and the Gideons International. Mr. Kirkpatrick was also preceded in death by one son, Carl Stanley Lambright, three brothers, two sisters, and one great grandchild.
Mr. Joseph Lee Kirkpatrick is survived by, and shared his life for fifty-one years with, his wife Lulu (Fink) Kirkpatrick, Heidrick, KY. He is also survived by three sons, Starlin Keith Kirkpatrick and wife Mary Jane, Sullivan, Missouri, Terry Lee Kirkpatrick, Lakewood, Colorado, David Allen Hankins, London, KY, five daughters, Cheryl Ottwell and husband Herb, Woodriver, Illinois, Rena Arlene Jones and husband Carl, Concord, New Hampshire, Joeen LaLetta Bright, Barbourville, KY, Lori Boyer and husband Kevin, Van Buren, Indiana, Sue Bowling, London, KY, a special sister-in-law, Mildred Elliott, Goshen, Indiana, seventeen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and a special great grandson Clayton Collett.
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Lee Kirkpatrick will be conducted in the chapel of the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. David Shelton and Rev. Roy Eversole officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville City Cemetery with Travis Hankins, Joshua Lambright, Donavon Cheek, Joshua Cain, and James Eversole serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Vora, Dr. West, Dr. Kumar, Dr. Pederson & staff; the Knox County Health Department special workers Cheryl Gibson, Pam Partin and Jessica Bargo; the Knox County Hospital staff, nurses and aides; all members of the Christian Life Fellowship Church; and also Debbie Matlock and Angela. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
