Mr. John Lewis Franke, Sr. age 71 of Dewitt, KY passed away Wednesday-March 5, 2008 in the Knox Co. Hospital. He was the husband of Maggie (Burnette) Franke. Mr. Franke was born December 2, 1936 in Piqua, Ohio the son of Herman Joseph Franke and Goldie Brush Franke. He was a member of the Union Mission Baptist Church. Mr. Franke’s greatest love was his grandchildren. Mr. Franke was preceded in death by his parents, one son Kelly Franke, one sister Jean Burnside, and three brothers Joe Franke, Mick Franke and Tom Franke.
Survivors include his wife Maggie Franke, sons John Lewis Franke, Jr. and wife Candice of Keystone Heights, Fla. David Allen Franke of Alford, Fla. Robert Franke wife Penny of Jacksonville, Fla. And stepson Lester Hensley and wife Melvie of Dewitt, KY daughters Lucinda Johnson and husband Tom of Sheriton, Ark. Patricia Rodenheffer and husband Kevin of OH stepdaughters Mary Alice Carnes and husband Larry of Flat Lick, KY Judy Ann Roberts of Barbourville, KY and Linda Santos and husband Don of Jacksonville, Fla. And three sisters Francis Scherer , Essie Jess and husband Robert and Doris Nan Tyler of Piqua, OH. Mr. Franke also leaves behind 28 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren in addition to a host of friends and neighbors to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Franke will be conducted Saturday-March 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Mills officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow in the Franke Family Cemetery at Dewitt, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
