Mr. Jimmie Sim Smith age 74, of Canton Michigan(formerly of Knox County) passed away Saturday in the Baptist Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Corinne Crawford Smith . He was born on February 26, 1934 in Knox County, KY. the son of Clarence and Nannie Mae (Centers) Smith.
Mr. Smith loved to hunt, fish, work with wood and make pens. He is preceded in death by three sisters Joyce Downey, Jane Smith and Christine Tripp.
Survivors include his wife Corinne Crawford Smith one son: Steven Douglas Smith and wife Charlotte of Corbin, KY, one daughter: Pam and husband Matthew G. Hawkins of Dearborn, Michigan two brothers: Arvill Smith and wife Kathleen Bellville, Michigan and Bennie Clay Smith of Michigan six grandchildren: Alissa Sebastian, Amber Bingham, Lucinda Smith, Seth Smith, Matthew L. Hawkins and Hailey Hawkins and his mother in law Carrie Crawford . Mr. Smith also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday August 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Lee, Rev. Jennifer West and Rev. Allen Bonnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Liford Cemetery at Hinkle, KY with James Smith, Ronald Crawford, Greg Fisher, Keith Liford, Alex Ross, Doyle Crawford and Dave Anderson serving as pallbearers and Vernon Liford serving as an Honorary Pallbearer. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-9 p.m.
