Mr. Jessie Ballard "Jakie" Ledford age 75 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Saturday night, October 1st, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Eva "Innice" Ledford and the son of the late Creed & Lucy (Martin) Ledford of Knox County born to them on February 14th, 1936.
Mr. Ledford believed in the Pentecostal faith, and enjoyed fishing, and playing and singing gospel music. Mr. Ledford was retired from R&R Dawson Bridge Company as a equipment operator and a former Truck driver know as Mr. Bubbles.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Arnold "Sug" Ledford, David Ledford, and Wendell Ledford.
Left behind to mourn his passing is wife Eva " Innice" Ledford of Barbourville, KY, one son Terry Ledford & wife Marilyn of Bimble, KY, two daughters Sherry Chadwell of Cannon, KY, and Denise Walden & husband Jasper Jr. of Corbin, KY. Two brothers Jack Ledford & wife Janet and Pete Ledford & wife Carol both of Barbourville, KY. Three sisters Drucilla Burnette &husband Farris, Wanda Mahan & husband Noah both of Williamsburg, KY and Bonnie Ledford of Girdler, KY. Seven Grandchildren Terry Jr., Jeremy, Bethany, Natasha, Joshua, Chase and Brittany. Seven Great Grandchildren Blake, Ava, Amellia, T.J., Kimber, Dustin, and Liem. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Ledford will be conducted on Tuesday - October 4th, 2011 @ 12:00 in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Landon Sexton, Rev. David Shelton, Rev. Ted Satterfield, and Rev. Bill "Wick" Marion officiating. Pallbearers will be Grandsons & Great Grandson. Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Cupp, Charlie Payne, Raymond Garland, Dave Tarter, Harold Patterson, Ralph Patterson and Melvin Jones. The family would like to especially mention the following ministers for their friendship & kindness, Rev. Carl Ray Felts, Rev. Jeff Lewis, Rev. Clifford Brock, Rev. Carl Hacker, Rev. W.H. Wyatt, Rev. Tommy Frazier, Rev. Duke Hammons, Rev. Stanley Taylor, Rev. Mervial Newman, Rev. R.P. Edwards and Rev. Harold Fuson. Mr. Ledford will be laid to rest in the Ledford Cemetery at Green road. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
