Jesse Woolum

Mr. Jesse Clarence Woolum age 96 of Barbourville, KY departed this life Sunday evening in the Knox Co. Hospital. He was born on December 4, 1911 in Knox County Kentucky to the union of James H. Woolum and Dora Lawson Woolum. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Marie Perry Woolum. He was baptized at Artemus Baptist Church. He loved to fish, garden, walk and to play checkers. He was a member of the 11th Tank Company of the Hawaii division, the army national guard and the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Marie Perry Woolum and his parents James H. Woolum and Dora Lawson Woolum. By three brothers Marion Thomas Woolum, James O. Woolum and Henry L. Woolum and one sister Allie Sparks.
Survivors include one son Roy Gene Woolum and wife Aline of Hopkinsville, KY., two brothers Frank Woolum and wife Docie of Williamsburg, KY., Fred Woolum and wife Mary of Glendale, California, by three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Jesse Clarence Woolum will be conducted at Hampton Funeral Home Wednesday-november 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with Family and Friends serving as Pallbearers. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements. The family of Jesse Clarence Woolum will receive friends at Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
