Jerry Woolum
Jerry Woolum, age 64 of Walker, went to be with the lord Friday. November 25, 2011. He was the son of the late Charles Thomas and Rose Carnes Woolum born to them on July 30, 1947 in Pineville, KY.
Jerry was an active member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church where he loved his church family greatly. He loved spending time with his family and traveling especially to the Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountain area. Jerry was very involved in politics and ran for public office on several occasions. He was also quite the entrepreneur in his lifetime. He was a truck driver, owned a tree cutting service, he was employed in multiple factory jobs, the coal business, and most recently automobile and used trailer sales.
Jerry was a hardworking man, a wonderful father, husband, brother, and friend to all he came across.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Sue Hoskins Woolum who survives him. Besides his wife he is survived by five daughters Shelia Gaye Bargo and her husband David Tilmon of Corbin, Patricia Ann Bingham and husband Doyle of Scalf, KY, Tonya Ruth Mills and husband Kenneth Dean of Salt Gum, Amanda Beth Messer and husband Jeremy Scott of Corbin, and Rebecca Rachelle Abner and husband Isaac Leamon of Barbourville. Three brothers Don Woolum and wife Diana of Barbourville, Byron Woolum and wife Louise of Walker, and Elmer Ray Woolum of Barbourville. Grandchildren, David Bargo Jr, Travis Dean Mills, Lori Danielle Bargo England, Patrick Mills, Dakota Kyle Mills, Savannah Faith Rose Bingham, and Marlee Reese Messer, and great Grandchildren Aiden England and Lucien Bargo.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Shirley Jean Gambrel and one sister in law Vernice Woolum.
Jerry also leaves behind many wonderful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and great friends to mourn his passing
Funeral services for Jerry Woolum will be conducted at 1PM Monday November 28th, 2011 at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Teddy Collins and Donnie Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Mills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home after 6PM Sunday and from 10 AM until the funeral hour of 1PM Monday at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements
