Mrs. Jean Manning age 77 of Artemus, KY passed away on Saturday - August 6th, 2011 in the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She was the widow of L.H. Manning and the daughter of Glen & Ruby (Adams) Sears. She was born in Knox Co., KY on September 15, 1933. Mrs. Manning was a member of the Artemus Baptist Church and was retired from Warners where she had been a floor supervisor.
She is preceded in death by her husband L.H. Manning, her parents, Glen & Ruby Sears, two sisters, Carolyn Sears and Geraldine Sears, one deceased brother Roy Sears, sister in law, Mae Manning and brothers in law, Fred, Glen and Duke Manning.
Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Rice and husband Lonnie of Artemus, two grandchildren, Karla Swafford and husband Jerry of Artemus and Lucas Doolin also of Artemus, five great grandchildren, Royce Martin, Reihanna Swafford, Jerrydon Swafford, Jayleigh Swafford and Josiah Swafford, six brothers, Jack Sears and wife Mary, Bill Sears and wife Elizabeth, Lowell Sears, Keith Sears and wife Patricia, Jerry Sears and wife Vivvian and John Sears and wife Brenda all of Gray, KY, five sisters, Doris Wunch of Gray, Sue Peterson and husband Pete of Rockwood, TN, Bobbie Bolton and husband Tim of Gray, Kay Philpot and husband Bobby of Corbin and Connie Smith of Gray, brother in law, Charles Manning and sisters in law and special friends Lois Manning, and Eliza Manning and two other special friends Edna Partin and Opal Martin. Mrs. Manning also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Manning will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Orville Taylor and Rev. Tom Patterson officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews of Mrs. Manning. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
