Mr. James “Charlie” Rice, age 83 of Lily, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was the husband of Sophia Mae (Parsons) Rice and the son of Reed and Lucy Rice. He was born in Barnyard, Kentucky on December 9, 1940.Charlie was a member of Friendship Holiness Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Lucy Rice, one brother J.M. Rice and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Smith and John Leddington.

Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife Sophia of Lily, two sons, Rev. David Rice and wife Peggy Ann of London and Michael Patrick Rice and wife Barbara of Lily, two daughters, Teresa Gail Price and husband Gary Edward and Kimberly Dawn Snyder and husband Edward Lynn all of Lily, five grandchildren, Anthony Price, Sarah Adams, Joshua Price, Dennis Rice and Matthew Price, four great grandchildren, Maria Adams, Emily Adams, Tryston Price and Kylie Price, one brother, Edward Arthur Rice and wife Janice of Hinkle and two sisters, Cleo Smith of Hinkle and Janice Leddington of Quitman, Georgia, a sister-in-law, Carrie Elizabeth Rice of Bimble. He also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Rice will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. David Rice and Bro. Michael Dixon officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Dozier Cemetery at Bimble. Pallbearers will be Anthony Price, Joshua Price, Matthew Price, Cody Smith, Roger Walden, Derek Mills. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00.
