Mr. James Loman Mills, age 84 of Flat Lick, Ky. departed this life on Wednesday November 14, 2007 in the Pineville Community Hospital. He was the husband of Christine (Griffith) Mills and the son of William and Effie Mills born to them on August 18, 1923 in Knox Co., KY. Mr. Mills was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He was a coal miner and saw mill worker. He loved to garden and work in his yard and loved going to flea markets. Preceding him in death are his parents, William and Effie Mills, one son, George Billy Mills, eight brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
Survivors include, his wife of sixty years, Christine Mills of Flat Lick, Ky, three sons, James Mills and wife Viola of Corbin, Tommy Gene Mills and wife Trisha of Flat Lick and Barry Keith Mills of Callebs Creek, three daughters, Effie Barnes and husband Kenley of Girdler, Ina Janeen Gray of Valentine’s Branch and Barbara Tuzzoli and husband John of Corbin, two brothers, McArthur Mills and wife Alice of Pineville and Eugene Mills of Middlesboro, two sisters, Viola Hughley of Marietta, Georgia and Sue Hostetter of Indianapolis, Indiana, fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, one uncle, G.T. Mills of Flat Lick and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends are left to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. James Loman Mills will be conducted on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jesse Mills officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mr. Mills. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kaw and staff. Burial will be in the Amis Cemetery at Possum Hollow. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
