Mr. James Messer age 89 of Girdler passed away Sunday-September 28, 2008 in the St. Joseph Hospital in London. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S Army. Mr. Messer was the son of the late Harold Messer and Bell Gibbons Messer born to them July 10, 1919 in Knox Co. KY. He was a member and former Deacon of the Dripping Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Messer is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth McCalister, daughter Elizabeth Messer, sisters Edna Hinkle, Millie Crawford, Nettie Callebs, Ethel Jones, Anna Stout, Gusta Price and Clara Messer, brothers Willie Messer and Frank Messer.
Survivors for Mr. Messer include two daughters Wilma Lambert of Girdler, KY and Stella Powell and husband Evert of Bimble, KY, son Donald Ray Messer of Girdler, KY and one sister Della Wells and husband Haskel of Virginia. Mr. Messer also leaves behind six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Messer will be conducted on Wednesday-October 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Owen Smith and Rev. Ricky Broughton officiating. Pallbearers will be Darrel Gray, Donnie Messer, Michael Edwards, Benny Lee Edwards, Shane Messer, John Goley, Jr. and Harold Price. Burial will follow in the Callebs Cemetery at Callebs Creek, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
