James Russell Jones

Rev. James Russell Jones, age 73 of Barbourville departed this life on Friday June 26, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 24, 1942 to the late Sie "Bear" and Eulalia Callebs Jones. He was also the husband of the late Mary Ollie Jones. Russell was a well known preacher in the Knox County area for 37 years and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by four brothers; Jack, Willard, Bobby and Keith Jones and three sisters; Louise Thomas, Diane Welch and Imogene Carty.
Survivors include one son, James Jones and wife Shawna of Barbourville, KY., two daughters, Denise Jones of Greenroad and Lavola Carol Brock and husband Todd of London, KY., two sisters Linda Partin of Barbourville and Maxine Burton of Norwood, OH., three grandchildren; Ina Elizabeth Jones, Shelby Kay Jones and Emily Grace Nichole Jones and as host of other relatives and friends left to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Russell Jones will be conducted in the chapel of the Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday June 30, 2015 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Owen Smith and Rev. Tip Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery at Greenroad. Pallbearers will be Bobby Jones, James Paul Jones, Sonny Foster, Jimmy Don, Bill Stewart and Dewayne Callebs. Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Monday June 29, 2015 from 6 until 9PM.
