Mr. James Kenneth Goodwin age 76 of Gray, KY departed this life on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his home. He was the son of James William Goodwin and Bobbie Frank (Logsden) Goodwin born to them on June 28, 1940 in Bonnieville, KY. On August 6, 1961, he united in marriage with Bertha Faye McDonald and to this union three children were born. James was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country from 1957 until 1960. He was also a firefighter in Louisville, KY before retiring in 1989. James enjoyed fishing and hunting but especially loved spending time with his family & grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Bobbie Goodwin, a son Phillip D. Goodwin and one brother, Charlie Goodwin.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife of over fifty-six years Bertha Faye Goodwin of Gray, KY, one son James A. Goodwin of Gray, one daughter Zella Melissa “Lisa” Grimes and husband Darrell of Elizabethtown, KY, three brothers, Donnie Dixon and Joey Hinkle and wife Priscilla of Louisville and William Joey Goodwin and wife Marlene of Upton, KY, two sisters, Martha Huffer and husband Wendell and Ann Curry and husband Tag of Elizabethtown, KY, five grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Goodwin, Gene, James and Faye Stuckey and seven great grandchildren, Kayla, Sierra, Travis and Christopher Thompson, Nevaeh Anderson and Alice and Christopher Harmon. He also leaves behind a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. James Kenneth Goodwin will be conducted in the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. William Joey Goodwin officiating. Pallbearers will be, Patrick and Jeremy Dillard, Matthew Goodwin, Jimmy Stuckey, Christopher Harmon and Darrell Grimes. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery. Cobb Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
