Mr. James Dairl “Gabby” Gibson age 68 of Girdler, KY departed this life on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at his home. He was the widower of Bonnie (Isom) Gibson and was the son of Walter and Effie (Garrison) Gibson born to them on February 16, 1942. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and was a retired logger and dozier operator. Mr. Gibson loved riding horses, hunting and gardening. He is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Gibson, his parents, Walter & Effie Gibson, one son Danny Pearl Gibson, three sisters, Lora Laverne Surgener, Marie Blair and Alma Brooks.
Left behind to mourn his passing, two sons, Dennis Gibson and wife Leann of Flat Lick and Matthew Gibson and fiance’ Bonnie Bishop of Girdler, one daughter Debbie Gibson of Barbourville, one brother, Ed Wayne Gibson and wife Nora of Gray, two sisters, Jamie Montgomery of Girdler and Dean Stewart of Union City, Indiana, three grandchildren, Samantha Valentine, Libby Valentine and Sierra Gibson. Mr. Gibson also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Gibson will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lonnie Collett and Rev. Owen Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be, James Isom, Doug Mills, Josh Mills, Johnny Ray Isom, Lonnie Wayne Isom, David Gibson and Gary Isom. Honorary Pallbearers will be Knox Co. Saddle Club members. Mr. Gibson will be laid to rest in the Gilbert Cemetery at Girdler, KY with Hampton Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
