Mr. James Ernest Gambrel "Big Un" age 59 of Woollum, KY departed this life on Thursday, July 28, 2016, He was the husband of Joyce (Mills) Gambrel and the son of Obie and Doris Gambrel born to them on January 7, 1957. James was a coal truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed restoring old vehicles in his spare time.
He is preceded in death by his parents Obie and Doris Gambrel, one sister Debbie Gambrel, two brothers Kenneth Gambrel and Terry Wayne Gambrel and his father in law, Cleveland Mills.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife Joyce Gambrel of Woollum, his son, Jason Spradlin of Walker, two sisters, Carolyn Gambrel of London and Patricia Martin and husband Bob of Corbin, two grandchildren, Kaylee and Shaun Spradlin both of Walker, his brothers and sisters in law, Randy Mills and wife Birdinia of Heidrick, Mickey Mills, Frankie Mills and wife Diana all of Woolum and Bonnie Swafford and husband David of Bull Creek. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Gambrel will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ricky Broughton officiating. Pallbearers will be, Gary Smith, Kenneth Swafford, Cleveland Mills, Chris Swafford, Michal Bright, Stephen Mitchell, Randal Mills and Brandon Mills. Burial will follow in the Nan Riley Cemetery at Woollum, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
