Mrs. Helen (Bennett) Messer age 79 of Cannon, KY departed this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, KY. She was born on March 17, 1937 in Knox Co. to Everett and Sarah (Fisher) Bennett. On September 16, 1954, she united in marriage with Crit Messer. Mrs. Messer had been an employee of Warner's here in Barbourville and she was a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters, Irene Hobbs, Homer C. Bennett, Ester B. Bennett, Alfred Bennett, Bill Bennett and Leroy Bennett.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her husband of sixty-two years, Crit Messer of Cannon, one son, Doug Messer and wife Lynn of Corbin, KY, one daughter, Christina Johnson of Cannon, KY and one brother, Everett Bennett, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan, and one adopted son, Teddy Ray Valentine Messer. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Messer will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m .with Rev. Dan Watkins and Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be Alvin Messer, Harvey Carter, William Messer, Kenny Messer, Michael Messer and Larry Messer. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
