Mr. Gobel Mills, Jr. age 69 of Buckeye Branch Rd., Flat Lick, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, April 4 2016 at his home. He was the son of Gobel Mills, Sr. and Nancy (Shelton) Mills born to them on June 26, 1946 in Knox Co. Mr. Mills was a member of Salem Baptist Church and had been a coal truck driver, a bus driver for KCEOC and had also worked as a logger.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gobel and Nancy Mills, two brothers, Clem Mills and Larry Mills and two sisters, Monica Bays and Bonnie Mills and a half- sister Mildred Bright.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his son, Verlin Mills and wife Mallie of Walker, KY and his daughter Janice Mills of Dewitt, his ex-wife, Jewell Dean Mills of Barbourville, three grandchildren, Victor Isaac Mills, Felicia Cherice Mills and Danielle Lee Mills, one great grandchild, Rylee David Mills, five brothers, Ben Tye Smith and wife Alene of Middlesboro, Jerry Wayne Mills and wife Sherry of Corbin, Rev. Donnie Mills and wife Linda of Flat Lick, Lowell Mills and Randall Mills both also of Flat Lick. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Gobel Mills, Jr. will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Derrick Mills, Rev. Herman Mills and Rev. A.Y. Mills officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews. He will be laid to rest in the Mills Cemetery at Mills, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
