Mrs. Gladys Betty Abner age 79 of Versailles, KY departed this life on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at her home. She was the widow of Otis Randall Abner and the daughter of Henry Vaughn and Lucy Stewart Vaughn born to them on April 26, 1929 in Knox Co., KY. Mrs. Abner was a housewife. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, taking care of her family and watching her favorite TV programs. She is preceded in death by her first husband Albert Allen and her second husband Otis Randall Abner, her parents, Henry and Lucy Vaughn, one daughter, Helen Marie Allen, two sons, James Abner and Ricky Abner, one sister, Dora Ellen Vaughn, two brothers, Robert Vaughn and Alvin Vaughn and one great grandchild.
Survivors include, nine sons, G.H. Allen and wife Brenda of Middletown, Ohio, Albert Allen, Jr. and wife Lowayna of Piqua, Ohio, Claude Edward Allen and wife Sandy of London, KY, Virgil Otis Allen and wife Carol of Barbourville, KY, John Lewis Allen and wife Sherry of Middletown, Ohio, Nick Abner and wife Penny, Chester Abner and fiance’ Darlene and Otis Abner and wife Charlene all of Versailles, KY, and Glen Abner of Lexington, KY, three daughters, Maxine Tateman and husband Delbert of London, KY, Shirley Ann Holbrook and husband Timothy of Versailles, KY and Loretta Clayton and husband Brian also of Versailles, KY, four brothers, Roy Vaughn and wife Sue, Donnie Vaughn and wife Wilma all of Barbourville, KY, G.C. Vaughn and wife Phyllis of Fount, KY and Otis Vaughn and wife Gertrude of London, KY, three sisters, Opal Bowling and Mary Ruth Gatliff both of Nicholasville, KY and Doris Miracle of Barbourville, KY, thirty one grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Abner also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Abner will be conducted on Friday, April 3, 2009 in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mann Cobb and Rev. Columbus Hensley officiating. Pallbearers will be, Grandsons and family. Honorary Pallbearers will be, the staff of the St. Joseph Medical Center and Hospice. Mrs. Abner will be laid to rest in the Childers Cemetery at Woolum, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
