Mr. George D. Broughton age 72 of Road Fork Stinking Creek departed this life on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in the University of KY Medical Center in Lexington. He was the husband of Maudie (Jordan) Broughton. Mr. Broughton was born January 4, 1936 in Knox Co. KY to Nasby Broughton and Myrtle (Smith) Broughton. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Broughton worked in timbers during his life and greatly enjoyed his whittling. He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Melissa Broughton, and four brothers Houston Broughton, Richard Broughton, Denver Broughton and Owens Broughton.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years Maudie Jordan Broughton, daughter Amie Rumph and husband Jay of Morristown, TN, one very special grandson David Jase Rumph, one brother James Lee Broughton of Barbourville, KY. three sisters Axie Jordan of Barbourville, KY, Ida Stroop of Elizabethtown, KY and Cora Gray and husband Bill of Louisville, KY, one very special friend Tom Warfield of Barbourville, KY. Mr. Broughton also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. George D. Broughton will be conducted on Friday-February 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Bill Gray officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow in the Broughton Cemetery at Road Fork, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
