Mrs. Geneva Root age 75 of Hwy 229 of London, KY passed away on Monday – February 21st, 2011 in the Laurel Heights Nursing Home. She was the wife of George Root and the daughter of the late Robert Lee & Mary Emma (Smith) Blanton, born to them on February 22nd, 1935 in Harlan County.
Mrs. Root was of the Baptist faith, was a homemaker, and enjoyed cleaning house, shopping, going to movies, and her flowers. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson Daniel Root.
Left behind to mourn her passing is her husband George Root of London, KY, two sons George Gary Root & wife Patricia of Gregory, Michigan, and Larry Wayne Root & wife Jennet of Taylor, Michigan. Two sisters Tootsie Abner & husband Louis of Harrodsburg, KY, and Pauline Foley of Westland, Michigan, one grandchild Eric Root, and four great grandchildren. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Root will be conducted on Friday – February 25th, 2011 @ 11:00 a.m. in the Hampton Funeran Home Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Broughton, & Rev. Alvin Dunn. Pallbearers will be Jacob Cunningham, Jeff Cunningham, Andrew Cunningham, David Abner, David Dunn and Roy Jent.Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Horn Branch Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery at Girdler. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
