Mrs. Geneva Francis (Doan) Murphy age 79 of Cannon, KY departed this life on Saturday, November 26th, 2011 in the Knox County Hospital. She was the widow of Densil Murphy, and the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Jackson) Doan of Knox County born to them on October 15th, 1932.
Geneva was a home maker and was of the Baptist faith, when she was able she enjoyed to work in her flower gardens. She was quiet, humble and loved her family beyond measure.
Besides her parents & husband she was preceded in death by one great grandchild Tracie Pedetris.
Left to mourn her passing are her three children two sons Joe Murphy & wife Tina of London, KY, and Paul Murphy & wife Michelle of Whitesburg, KY , her beloved daughter Carol Carmack & husband Bobby of Bimble, KY, one sister Lela Lumpkins of Cannon, KY, two nieces Linda Morris & husband Gene, Bonnie Howell & husband Ray. Two special great nieces Freda Smith and husband Darryl and Shelia Abner & husand Stacy. Six grand children Paula Hall & husband Brad, Melissa Hammer and husband Michael, Bobbie Jo Rice & husband Bill, Lalinda Daniels & husband Jason, Christina Bow & husband Johnny, Jessica Pedetris & husband Bradley, Hailey Murphy and Cody Isom. Nine great grandchildren in which Geneva loved Josh Warner, Travis North, Tyler Hoskins, Tristan Hall, Ethan Carmack, Conner Carmack, Brody Rice, Clarissa Manning and Zoe Pedetris. Geneva also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
The family would like to give special thanks to her cousin Beulah (Boots) Carnes whom has stayed and cared for her though her illness, also Andra Smith, and Stacia & Shyann Abner.
Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Murphy will be conducted on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 @ 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Abner & Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Rice, Jason Daniels, Ethan Carmack, Nick Smith, Brad Hall, Tyler Hoskins, Todd Partin , and Michael Hammer. Honorary Pallbearers are the Nurses of the Home Health Agency, and the Knox County Health Department, & Dr. Stargel. Burial will follow in the Payne Cemetery at Bimble. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
