Gary Wayne Hall, 74, loving husband, father, brother & friend; of Barbourville, KY; most recently a resident of Dayton, OH; passed away on April 9, 2013, from respiratory failure.
Gary was born in Barbourville, Kentucky on September 3, 1938. He spent his childhood in Barbourville, and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida at age 15. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg, Florida and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University.
Gary was married to Frances Gail Pinner on February 1, 1963. They were married for 50 years.
After being honorably discharged from the United States Navy, Gary worked initially for the United States Department of Defense at the Pentagon, in Arlington, Virginia; and later as a federal employee for the Internal Revenue Service for over 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, and he was an advocate for the protection and preservation of wildlife. He also actively supported the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Humane Society of the United States.
Gary is survived by his wife Frances; his children Phillip Hall, M.D. and wife Kristine of Centerville, Ohio; Erik Hall and wife Susan of Fairfax, Virginia; and Diana Hall Whittaker and husband Brent of Centreville, Virginia; his grandchildren Anthony, Kelsey, Joshua, Zachary, and William; his brother Bill Hall of Taylor, Michigan; and sister Karen Hall Sturms and husband Guy of Sharps Chapel, Tennessee, along with many other family and friends.
Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Davis Hall; father Kenton Hall; and grandparents Nora Hendrickson Davis and Henry Davis; and Sallie Brock Hall and William Hall.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davis Cemetery in Davis Bend.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at the Hampton Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.com) and the the Humane Society of the United States (www.humanesociety.org). The family of Gary Wayne Hall wishes to thank Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate care.
