Mr. Gary Wayne Burnett age 54 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. He was born on September 16, 1954 in Knox Co., KY and was the son of James T. and Alice Burnett. Mr. Burnett was a member of the Paint Hill Baptist Church and was a retired coal miner. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Minnie Partin.
Survivors include his parents, James and Alice Burnett of Barbourville, two sons, Gary Wayne Burnett, Jr. and Richard Todd Burnett both of Barbourville, KY, one daughter, Stephanie Jean Burnett of Kansas, one brother, Dale Burnett and wife Linda of Barbourville, three sisters, Vickie Sams of Woodbine, Sherry Williamson and husband Kenny of Barbourville and Lisa Engle and husband Eddie also of Barbourville, three grandchildren and his grandmother Nicie Mills of Barbourville along with several nieces and nephews. Mr. Burnett also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Gary Burnett will be conducted on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Denvil Taylor and Rev. Gene Hubbs officiating. Pallbearers will be Uncles & Nephews, Clarence Mills, A.J. Mills, Curtis Helton, Randy Burnett, Keith Burnett and D.J. Sams. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Engle, Gary Walters, Chris Grubb, James Gray, Darrell Hicks and Bill Noe. Mr. Burnett will be laid to rest in the Chance Cemetery at Indian Creek. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements. The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
