Gail Elliott
March 11, 1957 — June 19, 2011
Gail age 54 of Cannon, went to be with the lord on Sunday - June 19th, 2011. She was the daughter of the late John & Laura (Gibson) Surgener born to them on March 11th, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan.
Gail attended church at the First Baptist Church in Barbourville where she loved her church family, to those who knew her she was a person with a heart of gold and always helped others, she never was sad. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia.
Gail was a loving person, a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and a friend to all people she came across.
She was united in marriage on November 30th, 1974 to the late Billy Ray Elliott and to this union three children were born Bryan Ray Elliott, Gail Annette Elliott Gambrel and Betsy Connie Lynn Elliott Arthur. In 1995 on July the 4th, she united in marriage to her 2nd husband Thomas Jess Thacker, Sr. and to this union one child was born Thomas Jess Thacker Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Henry & Laura Lavern (Gibson) Surgener. Her first husband Billy Ray Elliott, one brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Petrie, and a mother-in-law Elsie Mae (Goins) Elliott.

Her children Bryan Ray Elliott & wife Beth of Bimble, KY, Annett Gambrel & husband Steve of Cannon, KY Betsy (Elliott) Arthur & husband Donavon of Cannon, KY and Thomas Jess Thacker Jr., of Callebs Creek, KY, eight grandchildren Jacob Tanner Elliott, Donavon Arthur, Hallie Gambrel, Dalton Elliott, Colby Elliott, Devin Arthur, Sadie Gambrel, and Danielle Arthur. Her 2nd husband Thomas Jess Thacker Sr. of Callebs Creek, KY. Sisters and Brothers Sharon Kay Claxton & husband Eyvind of Belleville, MI, Effie Sue Petrie of Curtis, MI, Janice Marie Vinson & husband L.J. Cannon, KY, and Judy Carol Hammons & husband Larry of of Cannon, KY, Johnnie Walter Surgener & wife Kim of Ypsilanti, MI.
Gail also leaves behind many wonderful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and great friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Gail will be conducted on Friday - June 24th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Satterfield, Rev. Jerry Vaughn, and Rev. Tip Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Jacob Elliott, Mickey Hammons, Zeb Garrison, Paul Pennington, Timmy Winnes, Earl Jr. Denny, Richard Denny, Ray Mills, and Michael Mills. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donavon (Doolittle) Arthur, Dalton Elliott, Colby Elliott, Devin Arthur, nephews, and all family & friends. Burial will follow in Burch Alford Cemetery at Artemus. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
