Frankie Root, age 71 of Girdler, was born on October 29, 1939, in Clay County, . Kentucky. He was the son of the late James Houston “Buster” Root and Claudia Hensley Root. Mr. Root died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at his home. He was a member and deacon of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Frankie was a former Tipple Operator at the Lewis Coal Company and was a Supervisor at Kentucky GEM Coal Company. Frankie enjoyed going to church, his family and his little puppy “Buster” whom he loved dearly. On July 1, 1983, he united in marriage to Jackie Doolin and to this union a beloved daughter, Frankie Nichole was born. Along with his parents, Frankie was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Root.
Frankie is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Jackie; his daughter, Frankie Nichole “Niki” Partin and husband Scott of Poplar Creek, his stepson, Kevin Wayne Doolin and wife Kathy of Hedrick. His grandchildren, Brittney Elaine Doolin, Kevin Michael Todd Doolin and Jacob Tyler Doolin all of Hedrick. His mother and father-in-law, Sterling and Mary Doolin of Hedrick, His sister-in-law, Brenda Root of Girdler, his Brother-In-Laws, Mike Doolin and wife Kopie of Girdler and Frankie Doolin and wife Bobbie of Hedrick. His nieces and nephews: Michael Doolin, Dakota Doolin, Ashley Doolin, Preshus Howard and husband Billy, Amber Johnson and Melanie Jackson and husband Todd - Two Great Nieces, Raegan Howard and Abby Jackson. Special Cousins, Christopher Hensley and wife Nancy and Billy Ray Hensley and wife Rosie all of Girdler and a host of other dear relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Frankie Root will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel , Friday, February 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. William Thomas Ashburn, Rev. Mark Gibbs and Rev. Mann Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Root Family Cemetery at Girdler. Pallbearers will be: Scott Partin, Mike Blevins, Michael Doolin, Mike Trent, Ray Trent, Wayne Abner, Dakota Doolin . Honorary Pallbearers will be Scotty Trent, Delmer Smith, Billie Swafford, Vernon & Norma Trent and Ray and Wittie Trent, Hospice of the Bluegrass, Knox County Home Health, Barbourville Family Health Center, Knox County Ambulance Service and the Knox County Hospital. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
