Mr. Ford E. Smith age 66, of Cannon, KY passed away Monday at the Knox County Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1942 in Clay County, KY the son of Cloyd Smith and Mary (Mills) Smith. Mr. Smith believed in the Baptist faith and attended the Beech Springs Baptist Church. He loved to work on cars, chop wood and be outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents Cloyd and Mary Smith, one brother, R.A. Smith and two sisters, Lena Mae Foster and Vernice Smith.
Survivors include his wife Marlene Smith of Cannon, one son David Smith and wife Belinda of Davis Bend, KY, one daughter, Mary Jo Smith of Flat Lick, KY, two step-sons, Samuel Wright of Palm Beach Florida and Michael Wright of Barbourville, KY, five brothers, George Smith and wife Nettie of Nancy, KY, Robert Smith and wife Jean of New Trenton, IN, David E. Smith and wife Elaine of Brookville, IN, Arthur Smith and wife Susan of Corbin, KY, Johnny Smith and wife Redena of Hamilton, OH, one sister Marie Jordan & husband Whitley of Boone Height, KY, three step-grandchildren, one step great grandchild, plus a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Ford E. Smith will be conducted Thursday October 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Hembree and Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Callebs Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Smith, Robert Smith, David Smith, Arthur Smith, Johnny Smith and David Smith. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the Hampton Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at 11:00 a.m.
