Mrs. Flossie Deaton Smith, age 90 of Girdler, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in the Knox County Hospital. She was the window of Mr. Jack Smith and the daughter of Floyd and Millie Mills Deaton, born to them on July 4, 1924 in Knox County. Flossie was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed being outdoors gardening, flowers and working in her yard.

Along with her parents and her husband, Flossie was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Smith and two brothers, Burchell and Ike Deaton.

Flossie is survived by a son, Tim Mills and fiancé Crystal of Girdler: One daughter, Janice K. Smith of Girdler: Three brothers, Jim Deaton and wife Louise of Girdler, Earnest Deaton of Girdler, and Denver Deaton and wife Mary Ellen of Cannon: One sister, Betty Epperson and husband Oscar of Ohio: Two grandchildren, Dustin Mills and Zach Broughton. Flossie is also survived by a host of many other friends and relatives left behind to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Flossie Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. David Barnard and Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at greenroad with Dustin Mills, Michael Deaton, Jordan Jackson, Eddie Deaton, David Deaton, Carl Dale Vaughn, Chris Deaton, Floyd Messer, Jimmy Messer and Chester Messer serving as pallbearers.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, 2015 after 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Saturday after 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 3:00 P.M.
