Flora Smith

Mrs. Flora Jordan Smith age 100 11 months and 26 days of Hinkle formerly of Girdler Ky. Departed this life Thursday – June 17th, 2010 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Robert Jordan and Mary Katherine Leath Jordan. Born June 21, 1909 in Clay County. She was a member of Dripping Springs Baptist Church

On August 1, 1933 she was united in marriage to John L. Smith in Clay County. To this union seven children were born. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter Pauline Cooper. One grandson David Jones and one son in law Dotson Callebs. Four sisters Dora Scalf, Sally York, Axie Mills and Allie Baker. Three brothers Jeff Jordan, Tom Jordan and George Jordan.

Survivors include one sister Oda Bargo of Williamsburg, KY two sons Oakley Smith and wife Gretchen of Norwood, OH and Ralph Smith and wife Marie of Girdler, KY. Lorene Jones and husband Terrill of Carmel, IN, Rachel Callebs of Hinkle, KY, Sally Smith and husband Ernie of Bimble, KY and June Gambrel and husband Jack of Rising Sun, IN. Fifteen Grandchildren, twenty one Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild Braylee Elizabeth Callebs.

Funeral services for Flora Jordan Smith will be conducted on Sunday June 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Hubert Jordan and Rev. Dwayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery with Grandsons and Great Grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Patterson, Dr. West and staff at Knox Family Medicine, all friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends Saturday June 19, 2010 at Hampton Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
