Fern Sturdivant

Mrs. Fern Sturdivant age 96 of Trosper, KY went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in the Knox Co. Hospital. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 25, 1918 the daughter of James Russell and Annie (Mills) Russell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God Mountain Assembly.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Fred Sturdivant ,thirty one years ago, along with her parents, James and Annie Russell, her brothers, James Russell, Jr. and Ray Hembree, her sisters, Helen Russell, Lorene Hembree, Jeanette Johnson, Mae and Myrtle.
Mrs. Sturdivant was the loving and caring mother of seven children: two sons, Bobby Joe Sturdivant and wife Lucille of Walton, KY and James Ed Sturdivant and wife Betty of Edgewood, KY, five daughters, Helen Pauline Bays and husband Tom of Independence, KY, Juanita Adams and husband Bob of Kodak, TN, Anna Scott of Cumberland Gap, TN, Wanda Martin and husband Gary of Trosper, KY and Sue Hobbs and husband Gordon also of Trosper, KY. She also leaves behind twenty five grandchildren, forty five great grandchildren and many great- great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sturdivant will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Hamilton and Rev. Charles Sturdivant officiating. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, honorary pallbearers will be, family & friends. Burial will follow in the Tinsley Cemetery at Trosper. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m.
