Rev. Farmer C. Mills age 70 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Monday, July 30, 2012 in the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was the son of John L. Mills and Emma Mills and was born on March 12, 1942 in Knox Co. On August 12, 1961 he united in marriage with June Mills and to this union four children were born. June preceded him in death. Later on April 10, 2004 he united in marriage with Evelyn Carnes Smith. Mr. Mills was a member of the Horn Branch Baptist church. He was also an ordained minister and deacon. He was co-owner and operator of Mills Garbage service. He loved watching UK basketball and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team and he also loved to go fox hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Emma Mills, his first wife June Mills, two brothers, Vernon Mills and Arnold Mills, two sisters, Mary Stacey Fields and Jeanetta Patterson.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn Mills of Barbourville, KY, three sons, Charles Patrick Mills and wife Sharon, Thomas Dewayne Mills and wife Rita and John "Billy" Mills and wife Joannie all of Girdler, one daughter Sheila Smith and husband Rev. Dewayne Smith of Girdler, two step children, Lisa Smith and husband Marty of Hinkle and David Smith of Bimble, seven grandchildren Kayla, Dustin, Brad, Brent, Patrick, Jeffrey and Brayden and a great grandchild Kaydence, three step grandchildren, Tyler, Michael and David and a step great grandchild, Haley, three brothers, R.J. Mills and wife Odie Mae, John L. Mills, Jr. and wife Linda and Clark Mills and wife Jamie all of Girdler, four sisters, Georgia Carter , Nadine Elliott and husband Lonnie, Lena Garrison and husband Wayne and Geneda Garland all of Barbourville. Mr. Mills also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and dear friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Rev. Mills will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Alvin Dunn and Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Tim Phipps officiating. Pallbearers will be employees of Mills Garbage service. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Horn Branch Baptist Church, Cole's Branch Baptist Church, Dripping Springs Baptist Church and the River Baptist Church, Knox Co. Home Health Staff, Dr. Vora and staff, Richland Volunteer Fire Dept. Jim Ed Smith, Troy Hampton and all of Farmers hunting buddies. He will be laid to rest in the Nan Riley Cemetery at Woolum. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
