Mrs. Evon Gambrel age 72 of Artemus, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 in the Jellico Community Hospital. She was the widow of Andy Gambrel and the daughter of the late Phillip & Nora (Baker) Hembree. Mrs. Gambrel was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cleaning, gardening, and smoking. She is preceded in death by her parents Philip and Nora Hembree her husband Andy Gambrel, one daughter Debbie Gambrel, one brother Thomas Gambrel and two sisters Joann Queen and Lucille Hembree.
Survivors include son Andrew Gambrel & wife Lisa of Corbin, KY, and their three children Chris, Jason and Jonathon, her adopted son Michael Gambrel & fiancé Hollie of Artemus, KY, and their children Payton Michael and Madison, her daughter Tammie Henson and fiancé Harris Smith of Girdler, KY and her child Justin, her adopted daughter Angie Gray, of Artemus, KY, and children Hailey Gray, Rita Gray and Michelle and her fiancé Ronald Mills, one sister Zella White of Lancaster, Ohio three other grandchildren Andrea Faye, Jamie Callebs and Effie Callebs, two great grandchildren Tyler and Makayla Callebs. Mrs. Gambrel also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services for Mrs. Evon Gambrel will be conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Johnson & Rev. Paul Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Farley Cemetery at Himyar. Pallbearers will be Michael Gambrel, Ronald “T-bone” Mills, Ronnie Gray, James Johnson, Earl Smith, Harrison Smith, Harrison “Booster” Smith, and Leonard Henson who was also a special friend.. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
