Mr. Eulis Ray Adkins age 58 of Artemus, KY departed this life on Thursday, July 05, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of Debra (Partin) Adkins and the son of Wilma Jean Adkins born on January 4, 1954 in Middlesboro, KY.
He was a member of the Roadside Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army and Navy. He served his country during the Vietnam War. Mr. Adkins had been a warehouse supervisor at Jackson MSC and later was employed with the Knox Co. Board of Education. He enjoyed Civil War reenactments and was the "Colonel" of the 5th KY Infantry, he was a member of the Daniel Boone Festival Committee, Vice President of the Knox Co. Cancer patient fund, a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, a KY Colonel and was a published author.
Mr. Adkins is preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Jean Adkins, his grandparents, Carl & Nola Adkins, a sister Margaret Diann Klusman, his mother and father in law, John & Alma Partin and a brother in law, Doug Partin.
Survivors include his wife Debra Adkins of Artemus, KY, his daughter Wendy Bunch a son-in-law Jimmy Bunch two sons, Jason Adkins and Kevin Miles, a daughter in law, Falina Adkins, grandchildren, Morgan Bunch, Tanner Bunch, Cassie Miles and Aliyah Miles, a sister Linda Raines, a brother, Billy Klusman and wife Linda, sisters-in-law Cathy Landrum, Zella Ledford, Judy Bowling and husband Ronnie, Pam Clines and husband Danny, brothers-in-law, Mark Partin and wife Pam, Johnny Partin and wife Michelle and Rick Partin and wife Sherry. He also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and very special caregivers Mark & Pam Partin.
Funeral services for Mr. Eulis Ray Adkins will be conducted at the Roadside Baptist Church in Barbourville on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Partin and Rev. Rick Partin officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Abner Stewart Cemetery at Artemus. Pallbearers will be Tony Landrum, Alvin Brown, Brian Brown, Keith Partin, Chris Partin, Jeremiah Partin, Randy Partin, Joel Partin, Nathan Warfield, Chris Bowling, Josh Partin and Daniel Clines. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the 5th KY Infantry, Nurses and staff of the Knox Co. Health Dept., Doctors, Lohe, Hasni, Jain and staff, Dr. Niazi and staff, all fellow civil war reenactors, Dr. Carl and nurses and staff. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Roadside Baptist Church on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
