Mr. Eugene Smith, age 74 of Corbin departed this life on Sunday – February 17, 2008 in the St. Joseph Hospital. He was the son of the late William & Hallie Smallwood Smith. Born to them in Clay Co. on June 29, 1933. Mr. Smith was a mechanic, an was a believer of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife Geneva Smith Hale, One daughter Bernadean Smith, Three sisters Leatha Smith Jackson, Pauline Smith, and Irene Smith.
He is survived by two sons, Pearl Smith & wife Marie of Lily, Ky,. Jeffery Smith & wife Rachel of Rockhold, Ky,. Seven daughters Pauline Smith & husband Donald of Walker, Ky,. Fredia Hensley & husband Roger of Gray, Ky,. Ruth Williams & husband David of Lily, Ky,. Nora Hicks & husband Kevin of London, Ky,. Patsy Smith of London, Ky,. Merlene Hollin & husband Will of Lily, Ky,. Darlene Weaver & husband Danny of Lily, Ky,. One sister Christlen Smith & husband Farmer of Girdler, Ky. 36 Grandchildren, One step Grandchild, and 48 Great Grandchildren. Mr. Smith also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Alvin Dunn and Ricky Broughton officiating. Pallbearers will be Family & Friends. Mr. Smith will be laid to rest in the Carnes Cemetery at Turkey Creek. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
