Mr. Eugene Brown age 80 of Scalf, KY entered into his eternal home on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was the husband of Virginia Lou (Gray) Brown and the son of Daw and Barbara (Baker) Brown born to them on January 21, 1934 in Knox Co.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Pigeon Roost Holiness Church at Mills, KY. He had been a hard worker all his life. He worked as a steel mill worker, a sawmill operator, a logger and a coal miner. He loved to deer hunt and go fishing. Most of all he loved the Lord and his family whom he was so proud of.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daw and Barbara Brown, a brother Garrett Brown a sister, Voila Brown, step brothers, Gilbert Brown, Evie Brown, Obie Brown and Preston Brown, step sisters, Argie Brown and Evelyn Brown and a son in law Paul Bryant who he loved dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty one years, Virginia Lou Brown of Scalf, his ten children who he loved dearly, Sandra Saylor and husband Wendell of Jensen, KY, Billy Brown and wife Kathy of Barbourville, Barbara Gambrel and husband David of Scalf, Becky Engle of Scalf, Richard Brown and wife Debbie of Scalf, Louisa Brown and Mark Farley of Corbin, Rita Baker and husband Larry of Scalf, Charlotte Brown of Barbourville, Roberta Gilbert and husband Doug of Pineville and Eugene Brown, II and wife Michelle of Big Rock, Virginia, two sisters, Rosie Brown of Bimble, and Martha Grubb and husband Tommy of Barbourville, step brothers, Daw Brown, Jr., Virgil Brown, Ernest Brown and Roger Brown, step sister Margaret Brown, his sisters in law, Diane Morgan, Vickie Farley, Betty Adams and Belinda Cox and his brothers in law, Bobby Gray and Jeff Gray. He had nineteen grandchildren that was his world, George, Nicholas and Kevin Davis, Billy Dean, Robert Douglas, Brandon and Donna Brown, Daniel Bryant, Morgan, Cody and Monica Gambrel, Kelsey Engle, Autumn and Landon Brown, Kendall Baker, Sarah & Aaron Gilbert and Austin and Aiden Brown, three great grandchildren, Destiny Davis,
Nathan Brown and Gloria Davis. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be conducted on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.B. Smallwood, Rev. Lester Caudill and Rev. Bud Sizemore officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Richard Carter, Dr. Allen Graham and Henry Neil. Mr. Brown will be laid to rest in the Johns Branch Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m
