Ethel Wilis

Mrs. Ethel Willis age 90 of Cannon, KY departed this life on Wednesday evening, March 18, 2009 at her home. She was born on March 19, 1918 in Bimble, KY to the late Sawyer Mills and Belle M. Huddleston Mills. She was a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church.
Mrs. Willis was a well known seamstress and small business owner for many years. On April 24, 1939 she united in marriage with Amos Willis and to this union two daughters were born.
She is preceded in death by her husband Amos Willis, her parents, Sawyer and Belle Mills, two brothers, Willie Mills and Leonard Mills, four sisters, Pearl Carnes and husband Jim, Mae Bingham and husband Evey, Mary Stamper and husband Earl G. and Nora Chadwell and husband Floyd, Jr., brothers & sisters in law, Clifford Downey, Irene Mills, Fayette C. Willis and wife Nettie, Joe E. Willis and wife Hazel, Lowell R. Willis and Leona B. Willis Smith and husband Otis her mother & father in law, Newton and Elizabeth Willis.
Survivors include two daughters, Pauline Willis and Joyce Willis both of Cannon, KY, one sister Maudie Downey of Lincoln Park, Michigan, two sisters-in-law, Helen Mills of Barbourville, KY and Emma Sue Willis Thorpe of London, KY, dear friends Patty Abner and her children Nick and Holly Abner whom she though of as her own, several nieces and nephews and many other loved ones and dear friends are left to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Willis will be conducted on Saturday March 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Jones and Rev. Alvin Dunn officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Mrs. Willis will be laid to rest in the Willis Cemetery at Cannon, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
