Mrs. Ethel Smith Jordan of Hinkle, Ky. departed this life on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky being 84 years, 1 month and 26 days of age. She was the daughter of the late Galey Smith and the late Hazel Swafford Smith. In addition to her parents Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Smith to this union three children were born, her husband Bill Elliott and husband Bill Jordan; one brother R.J. Smith and two sisters: Honor Broughton and Chelsea Smith. Mrs. Jordan had worked at Warnaco as a seamstress. She could often be found singing gospel music and quilting. Ethel was also a musician and could play many instruments. Mrs. Jordan believed in the Baptist faith and was a member of the Dripping Springs Baptist Church.

Ethel leaves behind to mourn her passing her children: One son: Tim Smith of Hinkle, Ky.; two daughters: Lisa Smith Mattox and husband Robert of Lexington, Ky. and Karen Smith of Louisville, Ky; Two brothers: Cloyd Smith and wife Doshie of Indiana and Woodrow Smith and wife Nadine of Indiana; One sister: Ruby Smith of Michigan; Ten grandchildren: Lucas Smith, Trevor Kidd, Timothy Smith, Nicholas Smith, Haley Smith, Calvin Mattox Bret Mattox, Noah Mattox, Evan Devine and Holly Grace Mattox and three great grandchildren: Ava Leeann Kidd , Isaac Smith and Madison Smith. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ethel Smith Jordan will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2016 in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Honeycutt officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Calleb's Creek Cemetery at Hinkle, Ky with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Trevor Kidd and Evan Devine. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2016 and on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00PM at Hampton Funeral Home.
