Mrs. Ethel Burnett age 101 departed this life on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in the Knox Co. Hospital. Mrs. Burnett was the widow of Riley Burnett and the daughter of Ned and Euphemia (Carnes) Shelton born to them on June 20, 1914 in Brice's Creek. She was a member of the Young Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She loved going to church, gardening, cooking, canning, growing flowers, and quilting.
She is preceded by her parents and her husband along with three sons, Alvin Burnett, Leonard Burnett and Jr. Burnett and one daughter, Hazel May, one sister, Lida Shelton and one brother Coleman Shelton.
Left behind to mourn her passing, one son Ronnie Burnett of London, KY, two daughters, Juanita Hamilton of Corbin and Sharon Murphy Snell and husband James of London, one sister, Dicie Mae Bailey of Barbourville and a daughter in law, Dorothy Burnett of Dewitt, a special granddaughter, Teresa Mills along with fourteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and a host of great great grandchildren,
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Burnett will be conducted on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Collins and Rev. Kennon Roark officiating. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Dewitt. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
