Esther Pearl (Ledford) Raney

Mrs. Esther Raney age 96 of Girdler, KY departed this life on Friday, May 19, 2017 in the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born on February 22, 1921 in Clay Co., KY the daughter of Frank Ledford and Mary Lee Spurlock Ledford. For the majority of her life, Esther was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. She loved her church and her church family. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking.

Early in life she united in marriage with Virgil Daniels and to this union four children were born. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1953. Later on February 10, 1978, she united in marriage with Charles Raney who also preceded her in death on August 3, 2000. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Frank and Mary Ledford, one infant son Ronald Lynn Daniels, one grandchild, Chris Daniels, one brother, Howard Ledford, four sisters, Sallie Ledford, Mae Lee, Alice Lieman and Annie Mays Chadwell.

Left behind to mourn her passing, one daughter, Sue Payne of Girdler, two sons, Don Daniels and wife Jeannie of Flat Lick and Carl Daniels and wife Kathy of Sevierville, TN, six grandchildren, David Payne and wife Kim, Scott Payne and wife Tammy, Robin Floyd and husband Herman, April Loper and husband Mike, Hollie Hubbard and husband Joe and Ryan Daniels, ten great grandchildren, Megan Barton, David Ryan Payne, Jeson Messer, Payton Payne, Conner Floyd, Addie Floyd, Isaac Hubbard, Theron Hubbard, Hannah Daniels and Andrew Daniels. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Esther Raney will be conducted in the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Barnard officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in the Hampton Cemetery at Girdler, KY. Cobb Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge  of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
