Ernest L. Senters, 84, of Richwood, WV, passed away Friday, May 17th, 2013 at his home following an extended illness.
Ernest was born September 14th, 1928 in Barbourville, KY, to the late Nathan and Addie Senters and formerly resided in Cawood, KY. In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his first wife, Jona Senters and second wife, Betty Shephard Senters of Richwood, his brother, Jack Senters of Hamilton, OH and sister, Chelsea Warfield of Barbourville, KY.
Ernest is survived by his son, Ronny (Lucy) Senters of Bagdad, KY, grandsons, Ronald and Jonathan Senters of Louisville, KY, granddaughter, Megan Brazzell (John) of Avilla, IN and great-grandson, Aaron Brazzell. He is also survived by stepdaughters, Joyce Spencer (Michael) of Fenwick, Cathy Meadows of Marlinton, Susan Brewer-McComas of Gulf Breeze, Florida and step-sons, Henry "Butch" Brewer II (Lisa) of Frankfort, KY and Donald (Pam) of TN as well as step-grandchildren, April and Sarah Spencer, Christopher Meadows, Andrew and Briana McComas, Henry "Bub" Brewer III, Sheri Dawn Cole, Alicia (Nick) Young and Angelina (Tyler) Davis; and one step- great granddaughter, Dixie Rose McComas.
Also surviving are brothers, J.E (Amanda) of Barbourville, KY, Clarence of Bryant's Store, KY, William June (Lou Ella) of Barbourville, KY, Jim Dave (Jewell) of Fairfield, OH and sisters Sue (James) Smith of Gray, KY, Mary Killion of Detroit, MI., and Jewell Couch of Hamilton, OH. Ernest also left numerous nieces, nephews and friends that mourn his passing.
Ernest was a strong Christian of Baptist faith. He worked in the saw mills for 55 years of his life; the last 36 he was a dedicated and loyal employee of Georgia Pacific Lumber Company from which he then retired. Ernest was an expert craftsman and was well known for the beautiful wood furniture he made for family and friends. He also loved fishing and gardening with his wife and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21st from 2 to 5PM at the Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, at 12 Railroad Avenue, in Richwood, WV. Visitation will also be held from 10-2 followed by funeral services on Thursday, May 23, at 2 PM at the Hampton Funeral Home located at 2809 South U.S. HWY 25E in Barbourville, KY. Burial will follow at the Lay Cemetery in Barbourville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions made in memory of Ernest to the Richwood Food Bank or the Richwood Public Library.
