Mrs. Elva Jean Abner age 59 of Girdler, KY departed this life on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset. She was the daughter of Edward Smith, Jr. and Elsie Smith born to them on June 10, 1954 in Knox Co. She was the widow of Andrew "Cotton" Abner. Mrs. Abner was a homemaker and member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her mother Elsie Smith and her grandparents, Anderson & Prudy Smith and Edward & Nora Smith.
Survivors include her father, Edward Smith, Jr. of Girdler, one son Marty Abner and wife Maranda of Woolum, one daughter, Angela K. Abner Roberts of Hinkle, one brother, Donnie Lee Smith of Girdler three grandchildren, Magan Paige Roberts Baker and husband Jeremy Dewayne Baker of Scalf, Waylon Lee Roberts of Girdler and Makayla Renae Abner of Woolum, one great grandchild, Cayden Alan Lee Smith of Scalf. Ms. Abner also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Ms. Elva Jean Abner will be conducted on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Jabe Smith and Rev. Bart Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Burial will follow in the Anderson Smith Cemetery at Woolum, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m.
