Mr. Eli Carnes, age 93 of Walker, KY departed this life Saturday July 5, 2014 in the Knox County Hospital. He was born on March 6, 1921 in Walker, KY to the late Dee and Dora Bowling Carnes. Eli was a Farmer and Sawmill operator and a member of the Walker Baptist church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Carnes, two daughters, Minnie Walker and Ruby Pearl Carter, three son in laws, Curt and Doug Walker and Waymon Messer, three brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren, Connie Lane Broughton and Curtis Eugene Walker Jr.
Survivors include three sons, Oscar Carnes and wife Lydia Ann, Harold Carnes and wife Donna and Sammy Ray Carnes and wife Sherry all of Walker, KY., five daughters, Anna Mae Messer of Walker, KY., Wanda Mills and husband Wayne of Bimble, KY., Norma Messer of Corbin, KY., Tammy Sue Jones and husband Wayne of Corbin, KY, and Pamela Hubbard and husband Carl Dewayne of Barbourville, KY., 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends left to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Eli Carnes will be conducted on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Hampton Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Abner officiating. Interment will be in the Eli Carnes cemetery at Walker. Pallbearers will be Peanut Carnes, Charles Ray Carnes, Travis Carnes, Alvin Brown, John Wayne Mills, Carl Dewayne Hubbard Jr., Wade Douglas Walker, Robbie Messer, Jeremy Scott Messer and Dustin Carnes.
The Carnes family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Monday July 7, 2014 from 6pm until 9pm and Tuesday from 10am until the hour of service at 2 pm.
