Mr. Eli Brown, Jr. age 88 of Barbourville departed this life on Wednesday morning, December 24, 2014 in the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born on January 28, 1926 and was the son of Eli and Mollie (Sizemore) Brown. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church of God.
He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Gladys Jackson, two daughters, Janet Brown and Joan Lowe, two sons, Mickey Brown and David Brown, two brothers, Robert & Steve Brown and one sister, Ida Rose along with his parents, Eli & Mollie Brown.
Survivors include one son Jerry Brown and wife Brenda of Barbourville, five daughters, Lavon Bright and husband Ray of Barbourville, Marlene Brummett and fiancé Dennis Dulton of Norton, Virginia, Kathy Smith and husband Jack and Sally Gallagher and husband Charles all of Barbourville and Katrina Brown of Tennessee, thirty three grandchildren, forty one great grandchildren, special friends, Monroe & Peggy Davis and his special dog, Reecie Brown. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Eli Brown, Jr. will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leslie Broughton and Rev. Charles Eversole officiating. Pallbearers will be James Davis, Pete Davis, Cody Wright, James Knuckles, Eric Hobbs, Jeremy Dotson and Eric Robinson. Mr. Brown will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00.
