Earnest Smith

Mr. Earnest Smith age 65 of Flat Lick, KY departed this life on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 in the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Corbin, KY. He was the son of Joe C. Smith and Bertha (Barley) Smith and was born in Knox Co., KY on January 2, 1944. Mr. Smith was a member of the Coalport Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family, playing music, fishing and bird hunting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bertha Smith, one sister, Eula Mae Peace and one brother Bobby Joe Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky Smith and wife Kelly of Milner, Georgia and Earnie Smith and wife Rachel of London, KY, two daughters, Vicky Rice and husband Homer of Gray, KY and Vernie Gray and husband Scott of Flat Lick, KY, ex-wives Emilyn Allen and Esterleen Mills, one brother, James M. Smith of Barbourville, KY and two sisters, Mildred Davis and Beatrice Fisher both of Barbourville, KY. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Earnest Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Roe Gibson and Rev. Glenn Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bluegrass Hospice staff. Mr. Smith will be laid to rest in the Sowders Cemetery at Artemus, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends may call at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 unitl 9:00 pm. And on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
