Mr. Donald I. Bingham, age 84, departed this life on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at his home in Barbourville, Kentucky. He was son of McCreary ‘Bud’ Bingham and Norma (Osborne) Bingham, born to them on August 16, 1934 in Pineville, Kentucky. He was the husband of Erma Lee (Bargo) Bingham. Don I. was a deacon of the First Baptist Church in Barbourville, Kentucky, former chairman of the Knox County Democratic Party, former Knox County Judge Executive, and a member of the National Guard for twelve years.
He is preceded in death by his parents McCreary and Norma Bingham, brothers Arnold ‘Bubby’ Bingham and Hobart Bingham, and son-in-law Rick L. Hammons.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his loving wife Erma Lee (Bargo) Bingham, son Mike Bingham and wife Teresa of Bimble, Kentucky, daughter Eryleen Hammons of Bimble, Kentucky, grandchildren Don Hayes Hammons and wife Andrea of Flat Lick, Kentucky, Jaxon Hammons and wife Wendi of Flat Lick, Kentucky, Brandon Bingham of Richmond, Kentucky, Brooke Bingham of Richmond, Kentucky, Dawson Bingham of Bimble, Kentucky, great grandchildren Breydon Mills, Jordan Mills, Kylie Mills, Evan Hayes Hammons, Drew Thomas Hammons, sisters-in-law Janice Bingham and Barbara Bingham. He also leaves behind a host of many relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers Pam Bargo, Geneva Smith, Georgie Butler, Bluegrass Hospice Navigators, Knox County Home Health the staff of Barbourville ARH Hospital, and Dr. Pedersen and the staff of Baptist Health Medical Group Family Medicine. A very special thank you to the staff of Spur Oil for their special care.
Funeral services for Mr. Don I. Bingham will be conducted at the First Baptist Church in Barbourville, Kentucky on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Shane Nickell and Brother Eli Broughton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Binghamtown Cemetery at Flat Lick, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Don Hayes Hammons, Jaxon Hammons, Brandon Bingham, Dawson Bingham, Jeremy Bargo and Alan Tye Ledington. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of First Baptist Church. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 26, 2019 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
