Dewey Collins departed this life on Saturday, January 30, 2016 being 92 years, 11 months and 5 days of age. He was born on February 25, 1923 in Knox County, Kentucky to the late Rev. John Collins and the late Delia Brown Collins. He is also preceded in death by his wife Ludina Mills Collins; one daughter: Judy Ramsey; two brothers: Bill Collins and Ben Collins; two sisters: Maudie Mills and Julie Brown. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Young Grove Baptist Church. Dewey was a licensed taxidermist and enjoyed spending time in the woods. He loved being out in nature and could be found root digging, and hunting.
Dewey leaves behind his six sons: John Collins, Michael Collins and wife Zelma, Taylor Collins and wife Mary, James Collins, William Mark Collins, Shawn Collins and wife Lisa; three daughters: Lois Collett and husband Jackson, Brenda Collins, and Kathy Collins; one brother: John Henry Collins; one sister: Ida Hobbs; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The funeral service for Dewey Collins will be conducted on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 2:00PM in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Collins and Rev. Gilbert Collins officiating. He will be laid to rest at Dewey Collins Cemetery at Flat Lick with his Grandsons and other family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM and on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 10:00AM until the funeral hour at Hampton Funeral Home.
