Mrs. Devonna Gail Brown, age 46 of Robinson Creek Rd., London, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of Frank Brown and the daughter of Roscoe and Ruth (Mills) Smith born to them on March 23, 1965 in Knox Co., KY. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Salt Gum Baptist Church and was principal at Lynn Camp Elementary School.
She is preceded in death by one daughter Whitney Jacenda Brown, her grandparents, Jess and Chelsie Smith and Chris Mills, uncles Jimmy Estes, James Albert Smith, Charles Ferreri and Richard Smith, a beloved aunt Lula Smith and mother in law, Helen Carol Brown.
Left behind to mourn her passing is her husband Frank Brown of London, five children, Cameron Cody Slusher of London , Franklin Cody Carnes of Knox Co. William Ross Brown, Jackson Blake Brown and Courtney Jade Brown all of London, KY, her parents, Roscoe & Ruth Smith of London, KY, two brothers, Roscoe Dean Smith and wife Darlene and Jessie Chris Smith all of London, grandmother, Ellen Mills of London,one niece, Amber Gail Hildebrand, Two nephews Eric Dean Smith, and Adam Napier, one great niece, Alexis Paige Hildebrand, and one great nephew, Dalton Smith, mother & father in law, Bill & Gerri Brown of Flat Lick, brothers and sisters in law, John & Libby Pickard and Jeffrey & Donna Gray all of Barbourville and Joyelle & Chris Collett of Clay Co., aunts & uncles, Billy Ray & Sue Mills of London, Phyllis Mills of London, Oscar & Jean Messer of Michigan, Bertha Estes of Dewitt, KY, Mildred Smith of Dearborn, Michigan, Maxine Ferreri of Alabama, Evelyn Smith of Barbourville, KY, Leonard and Darlene Smith of Dewitt, KY and Escoe and Thelma Smith of Dewitt, KY, great aunts & uncles, Robert Messer, Jr. and wife Gertrude of Flat Lick and McKinley Smith and wife Johnnie of Taylor, Michigan. She also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be conducted on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kennon Roark, Rev. David Barnard and Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be John Pickard, Jeffrey Gray, Sean Smith, Chris Collett, Colson Messer, Jr., Dennis Smith and John Jason Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be all the teachers and staff of the Lynn Camp Elementary and High School. Mrs. Brown will be laid to rest in the Smith-Mills Family Cemetery at London, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a contribution to the Gail Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund, donations will be accepted at the Knox County Board of Education, Hampton Funeral Home, or by Nicki Hammons at Lynn Camp Elementary. Please make checks payable to Gail Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund.
