Mr. Denver Davis age 65 of Gray, KY passed away Friday afternoon in the Baptist Regional medical center Corbin, KY. He was the son of the late F.M. Davis, Jr and Virgie Messer Davis. Two brothers preceded him in death Ben Franklin Davis and Clarence Ray Davis. He was born on May 15, 1945 at Acorn Fork at Mills, KY. Mr. Davis was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a retired maintenance worker. He loved to Crappie fish, U.K. Basketball and to run his Beagles.
In 1965 he was united in marriage to Kristina Lynn Tilton who precedes him in death and to this union three children were born. In 1972 he united in marriage to Ruby Farris Davis who survives and to this union two children were born.
Other survivors include one daughter: Robin and husband Lynn Childers of Dayton, OH, four sons: Charles Francis Davis and wife Debbie of Dayton, OH, Darrel Duane Davis of Dayton, OH, Denver Lee Davis of Gray, KY, James Rodney Davis and wife Kristie of Gray, KY, two brothers: M. G. Davis of Gray, KY, Hobert Davis and wife Linda of Barbourville, KY, four sisters Litha Smith of Barbourville, KY, Pat Merritt and husband Tony of Barbourville, KY, Evelyn Gray and husband Wade of Gray, KY and Lois Smith of Corbin, KY, Eleven grandchildren Christopher Childers, Joshua Childers, Dessie Davis, Chuck Davis, Jr, Aimee Davis, Kyle Davis, Josh Davis, Dustin Davis, Austin Davis, Jeremy Davis and Aaron Davis, five great grandchildren Haley Childers, Jayden Childers, Olivia Childers, Abbie Childers and Chloe Childers. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Denver Davis will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday- February 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tip Smith and Rev. Owen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Farris Cemetery at Gray, KY with Charles Davis, Darrel Davis, Denver Lee Davis, James Davis, M. G. Davis and Hobert Davis serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Grandchildren, Friends, Family, Dr. Hays, staff of Baptist Regional medical Center CCU, Jim Jones and E.J. Gray.
The family will receive friends at Hampton Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
