Mr. Dan Gambrel age 74 of Flat Lick, KY departed this life on Monday, May 25, 2015 in the Barbourville Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on August 27, 1940 and was the son of Ross Gambrel and Cordia (Patterson) Gambrel. Mr. Gambrel believed in the Baptist faith, he had been a bus driver for KCEOC, had worked at Patterson's sawmill for twenty years and founded the Stinking Creek Fire Dept. He also donated the land that the fire dept. now stands on.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ross & Cordia Gambrel, two sisters, Esceline Sizemore and Irene Honeycutt, two half sisters, Bertha and Gracie Hubbard, three brothers, Asberry, Donald Lee and John Gambrel, two half brothers, Robert and Harold Gambrel.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing, his former wife and caregiver, Judy Brock of Flat Lick, two sons, Jason Gambrel of Flat Lick and Scotty Gambrel and wife Vicky of Mills' Creek, one brother, Lloyd Gambrel and wife Eddy of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, two sisters, Jenny Beth Dye of Flat Lick and Bobbie Jean Cox of Barbourville, beloved sister and brother in law, Lois Gambrel of Walker and Earnest Sizemore of Dayton, Ohio. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Dan Gambrel will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. A.Y. Mills and Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be, Jerry Paul Cox, Gary Sizemore, Earnest Sizemore, Jr., John Gambrel, Jr., Jim Rose, Andy Asher, Frank Sizemore, Clarence Honeycutt, Jr., Kyle Gambrel and Ryan Gambrel. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Stinking Creek and Artemus Fire Depts. Burial will follow in the Gail Bingham Cemetery at Walker, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
