Mr. Dallas O’Neilly Shields age 76, of Monticello, KY (formerly of Knox County) passed away Friday – April 24th, 2009. He was born on January 9, 1933 in Knox County to the union of Joe Lee Shields and Nancy Effie Partin Shields. He was a retired Coal Miner and Carpenter and believed in the Pentecostal Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Lee Shields and Nancy Effie Partin Shields, one son: William Russell Shields, two brothers: Doug McGuire Shields and Billy Shields, one sister: Evelyn Treadway and three grandchildren Bradley Mills, Cody Mills and Dallas O’Neilly III.
Survivors include three sons Dallas O’Neilly and wife Patricia of London, KY, Joseph Edward Shields of Barbourville, KY and Mark Anthony Shields of Corbin, three daughters: Patricia Gwendolyn Al-Rubbaii of Knoxville, Tennessee, Deloris Evelyn Dolen and husband Bobby of Monticello, KY and Nancy Faye Mills of Cincinnati, Ohio, four brothers: Neil Shields and Willa Dean of Barbourville, KY, Garrett Shields and wife Judy of Barbourville, KY, Richard Shields and wife Barbara of Boonesboro, KY, Joe Shields and wife Betty of Barbourville, one sister Vesta Rice of Barbourville, KY. She is also survived by 23 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren Ashleigh Dawn Stamper, Evan Mitchell Fields, Emily Morgan Fields, Charli Reese Bolton, Adam Charles Lee Doan, Nathaniel Lee Eidson, Isaiah Curtis Eidson, Babie Alaina Eidson, Benjamin Ralph Lawson, Wesley Nathaniel Lawson, Caidence Lenae Mills, and Bryan Connor Mills. Plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Shields will be in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, on Sunday – April 26th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Lucian Estridge officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Shields, Brian Mills, Daniel Mills, Dylan Mills, Eberham Ali Rubbaii, and Abdual Ali Rubbaii. Honorary pallbearers are Lake Cumberland Hospice, Butch West, and the Staff of the Wayne County Hospital. Burial will follow in the Hammons cemetery at Girdler, KY. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
